Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Assistant Vice President in its Economic Competitiveness Division. The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for leading and executing projects and workstreams in partnership with the Vice President of the division. This role is expected to share in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the division and support strategic and operational planning for VEDP as a whole. The Assistant Vice President will also work with leadership to identify opportunities to improve Virginia’s economic competitiveness.

This position requires at least two to four years of experience at a top-tier professional services firm (e.g., management consulting, legal, accounting and/or auditing firm, investment banking). This candidate would have completed a robust training program that exposed the individual to multiple projects and leadership styles, required detailed analytical and quantitative problem solving for success, and honed the individual’s relationship and stakeholder management skills. The successful applicant must be able to work under pressure, produce and deliver proposals within tight deadlines, and have strong communication skills, including experience creating and delivering presentations. Excellent attention to detail, as written work will often be scrutinized and relied upon by outside entities, is required. The applicant must have excellent computer proficiency, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint, strategic analysis and problem solving skills, and the ability to use computerized databases for project management. An MBA or graduate degree in relevant field is preferred. A valid Virginia driver’s license is required. Salary commensurate with experience.

Analyst

Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an Analyst to support the work of its Economic Competitiveness division in strategic research, analysis, benchmarking, and planning. The Analyst will work primarily on data compilation and analysis in Excel, analysis of relevant reports, economic modeling, and presentation development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the efforts of identifying opportunities to improve Virginia's economic competitiveness
  • Analyze rankings and reports relevant to Virginia's economy
  • Extract, compile, and analyze economic data from multiple sources to support development of key public policy and programmatic initiatives

  • Assist in identifying strategies for making Virginia competitive for key, high-impact industries and projects

Experience:

  • A degree in economics, political science, business, accounting, or related field is preferred
  • One to two years of professional experience is preferred (although strong internship experience while pursuing an undergraduate degree can potentially be considered as substituting for full-time, post-graduate work experience)

Skills:

  • Excellent computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) development

Business Manager

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership is seeking an experienced economic development professional to successfully promote Virginia to targeted industry executives and site selection consultants as the preferred location for new and expanding business facilities.

The Business Manager will support the development and implementation of VEDP’s business investment strategy, and provide project management on economic development opportunities considering Virginia. The Business Manager will work with interested company executives, and local and regional economic developers to successfully locate new and expanding business operations to Virginia. The Business Manager will support VEDP’s lead generation programs by conducting targeted marketing outreach to prospective companies, site selection consultants and commercial real estate brokers.

Candidates must possess considerable executive level sales and marketing experience in an economic development office or corporate business environment. The Business Manager must have demonstrated project management and lead generation experience, as well as experience in developing and implementing a sales and marketing plan to effectively close deals. The Business Manager is expected to demonstrate the ability to manage in a team environment and leverage partners in the public and private sectors, including higher education partners, and local and regional economic development partners. The Business Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Managing Director

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership is seeking an experienced economic development professional to provide leadership, project management, and the development and implementation of a comprehensive lead generation strategy that successfully generates results achieving VEDP’s performance metrics.

As part of VEDP’s Business Investment division, the sector-based team works with prospective corporate executives, and local and regional economic developers to successfully locate new business operations to Virginia. The team supports VEDP’s lead generation strategies by conducting marketing outreach to targeted companies, site selection consultants and commercial real estate brokers. The Managing Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sector based team and provide vision to enhance strategies and initiatives that achieve the Business Investment division’s results for leads generated, leads converted, jobs created and new capital investment.
