SENIOR ANALYST
Richmond

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership is seeking a Senior Analyst in the Competitive Initiatives (CI) Division to work collaboratively with other CI team members in developing benchmarking, research, and planning materials. The Analyst has a particular focus on spreadsheet development, data compilation, analysis of relevant reports, economic modeling, and presentation development.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the efforts of benchmarking best-in-class economic development policies and processes across the country
  • Analyze rankings and reports relevant to Virginia’s economy
  • Extract, compile, and analyze economic data from multiple sources to support development of key public policy and programmatic initiatives
  • Identify strategies for making Virginia competitive for key, high-impact industries and projects
  • Identify strategies to fully capitalize on key regional economic development assets throughout the Commonwealth
  • Support the development of VEDP’s operational and strategic planning efforts

Experience:

  • A degree in economics, political science, business, accounting, or a related field is preferred
  • Professional level experience in strategic planning, strategic management consulting, and/or economic development strategy development preferred
  • At least 2 years of professional experience required

Skills:

  • Aptitude for organization and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) development
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent strategic analysis and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under time pressure

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Managing Director to lead the Incentives Division. The Managing Director will be responsible for overseeing the reviewing, vetting, tracking, and coordinating of VEDP administered economic development incentives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive administration and compliance program that manages the oversight of discretionary incentives
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to assist with proper use and administration of incentives
  • Manage the disbursement of incentive proceeds
  • Oversee incentive approval process including proper documentation, submission and notification to appropriate parties

Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree from accredited university required and MBA preferred.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of business analytics, financial management, and organizational process improvement.
  • Management experience required with demonstrated ability to develop and lead a strong team environment.
  • Compliance, risk management, or audit experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Experience with database management and Salesforce preferred; Microsoft Office required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop goals, plan and implement projects, work with others to negotiate issues effectively, and to formulate and communicate recommendations.
  • Understanding of economic development principles and process, as well as working knowledge of public financial incentives preferred.
