Northrop Grumman Opens Virginia Corporate Headquarters

Governor McDonnell and a team of Virginia government officials were on hand in late September to commemorate the opening of Northrop Grumman’s new corporate headquarters building in Fairfax County. While the effort to woo one of the largest global defense companies from the West Coast spanned multiple administrations, leaders working with the company remained steadfast in their efforts to prove Virginia was the right location. Northrop Grumman had a longstanding level of comfort with Virginia’s business environment, as 30,000 employees were already located here. Building upon that foundation, officials were able to offer a compelling business case for the relocation, illustrating Virginia’s pro-business climate, educated workforce and extensive real estate assets.

Virginia’s comprehensive selection of available buildings proved to be a significant benefit in winning this project. Due to the nature of the company’s business, there were specific requirements for the new headquarters location. The building in Falls Church perfectly suited the company’s needs. It was a stand-alone facility on an extensive property, offering the company an aesthetic environment, ample security and easy access to the Beltway.
