More than 105,000 students are enrolled in the state's numerous private institutions of higher education, which have achieved national acclaim and have areas of study lending great value to companies across the state. In the 2010-2011 academic year, Virginia’s private four-year non-profit institutions awarded over 23,000 degrees.
